My name is Sorina, creator of Digital Train.
I am the mom of 2 beautifully developing girls, both under 2, and the wife of a wonderful man.
I have created this blog in December 2018 and initially, I wanted to share my journey as a stay-at-home, work-from-home mom. Now I also share loads of Keto recipes that are tasty, easy to make and with easy to find ingredients. And I give tips on how to organize yourself in order to be able to keep a ketogenic lifestyle.
On the 31 of January, I gave birth to little Nadja, our second daughter. She is amazing and we feel blessed to have now 2 little humans in our family. They say life changes once you have kids and I would add that this is an understatement. Besides the heavy responsibilities that come along with being a parent, I also got an extra 30 kg during my second pregnancy.
This was mostly because I ate loads of sugar and carbs, which made me feel hungry all the time. It was not until I understood how eating sugars messes up with your body’s capacity to let you know that you are full and you should stop eating. I thus again went back to my Ketogenic Diet on the 15th of February 2019.
I lost my first baby weight on keto as well and today, April 23, I am 23 Kg lighter. That is a lot but I still want to drop 10 kg and I want to get in shape. Notice I did not say back in shape. That is because my unhealthy eating habits never helped me stay motivated and exercise. I lacked focus.
Sugar constantly gave me a lethargic state of being, plus general pain and inflammation. But this has been completely different once I went on a Keto diet. I have loads of energy and build up motivation each week to have some restoring exercises. And it feels great!
A little bit about me
I went to Business School and also studied Law in my native country, Romania. Right after graduation, I spent a few years working at different companies there. Even if I tried different business environments I felt like I actually know nothing at all about business and finances.
I was stagnating and nothing in my life was progressing as I had in mind. Honestly, it felt and still feels like all those school years were a total waste of my time and my mother´s money.
Seriously, who can be an expert in business and finances before actually working in the real world, with real mentorship and feedback? Or without actually owning a real business?
The school system got this totally wrong. They taught my generation to obey and not challenge authority (I´m born in 87). They did not teach critical thinking and problem-solving. They did not promote authenticity. And this is soo wrong! I believe it created a generation of people afraid of conflict, or people pleasers, with no confrontational skill whatsoever. People afraid to stand out. And not knowing you have the power to stand up for yourself is debilitating for some time. Ugh.
Luckily, nothing is fixed and we can grow out of pretty much every pit we might be in as long as we look for the proper tools and people around us. I strongly believe in growing yourself through constantly solving problems. I believe in personal growth over time. Getting yourself in the best possible shape you can, physically and mentally, is much better than aiming at getting rich.
This is why I decided to relocate. No offense, Romania, you raised me well. But I moved to Germany in 2014, with a new job that I personally scouted while visiting a fair in Frankfurt. The job allowed me to travel for 3 years and do marketing and public relations for super interesting countries around the globe, in a 100% professional environment.
I enjoyed this a lot and just the difference in cultures that I encountered made me reevaluate everything I thought I once knew. It was not much, frankly. But I got real feedback from the team I worked with, and I learned a lot in a really short time. I even learned German – I went from 0 to a conversational level with horrible grammar in about a year.
Soon after this 180 degrees life change, I met my wonderful husband Ilja. He charmed me with his humor and his blunt honesty. We very quickly saw a future together and we got married last year. Ilja completed his computer engineering degree in Würzburg, Germany and has been a self-employed web developer for the last 4 years. He loooves to talk about taxes.
My baby love Luna was born in October 2017. Being a mom is amazing and my personal wish is to stay at home with the children during their first years. And after they grow a bit to be able to travel the world together. So I figured in order for this to be possible, I need a plan and action. As soon as I entered my maternity leave, I switched to my first love, the online, and I plunged into Photoshop, Illustrator and web design.
I managed to make money from home with logos, brand packages, websites and I now even help recurring clients solve different digital problems.
I personally love staying home, having a flexible schedule, preparing 3 healthy meals a day for my family and spending time with them. There are so many pros to it for me. But parenting, home management, cooking keto & working from home? Well, I’m still experimenting to prove myself that it is possible to balance it all.
I need loads of self-discipline and better time management, which I am constantly working on.
But I know I always dreamed of having my own online business, one that actually makes a difference. I always wanted to be healthy and take care of my family.
SO THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET
I’m very happy to share some of our mini-stories with you. To make blogging tons of fun, I write about things that I am passionate about and I hope to connect with people on the same journey.
I got really good at Pinterest in a short time, reaching more than a million people in less than 3 months. So my hope is that this blog will end up helping you to pursue your keto goals. Or motivate you to start an online business of your own and do work that matters to you.
